Dear Listener:

Where We Stand is the newest release from Liz and my project known as The Shiz. As you may well know, we recorded this album in Merritt Island, FL in May at Island Music w/ Sam (Tritico for those who don’t know him). It was a marathon session: 2 days of driving, 3 days of band recording, 3 days tracking, and 3 days editing and mixing.

The recording features the band mainstays: Liz Hogan on guitar, harmonica and vocals, me (Lilli Lewis) on keys and vocals, Anna Byars on lead guitar, and Melinda McElveen on drums. We also had a guest, the wonderful Ms. Terrell Watkins, come in and play percussion for us. Sam was our champion of knowledge, experience, patience, encouragement and hospitality. He also laid down some mighty fine bass on there to boot.

The CD is called “Where We Stand.” These are all original songs written by Liz and me at times in our lives when we never thought we’d play in a band we started together. Our styles have always been very different, but over time we realized the ideas that inspire us are of the same basic stuff. As the title implies, these songs are mostly about our perspective on being in this weird world with coming of age/spirit quest type themes. I think the over all message is that life may be tough sometimes but the journey is rich, especially if we try not to take it for granted.

This has truly been a rewarding project full of love, fun and healing, and we are so proud to be sharing this recording with you. Many thanks to Lila Hogan and Sam for making it possible to put this together in such an uplifted way, and thank you to all of you for listening to it!
